Leadership Theories/Concepts There are several leadership theories that have been proposed. They include great man surmisal, trait theory, behavioural theories such as the managerial grid, theory x and y, contingency theory and many others. The various leadership styles include participative leadership, transformational leadership, situational leadership and many others. Some leaders think much about their employees than themselves. Others are more committed to their work and have excellent communication skills. For every organization to be successful the leader should show commitment to his work, communicate effectively and touch off employees to perform their tasks (Hassan & Shaw, 2012). The trait theory assumes that individuals have natural traits that help them become leaders. They believe that these merits are inheritable. These traits include intelligence, conduct, sociability, commitment, devotion, determination and perseverance and other inherit abilities (Gorman, 2004). Situational theory argues that leaders arise from differen t situation in individuals face in life. The leaders are expected to adjust and adapt to new circumstances to be able to deal with the new situation. The path goal theory deals employees motivations so as to enable them achieve the set goals and objectives (Gorman, 2004, p.82). According to this theory leaders have the ability to improve employees motivation by clarifying the goals and providing the resources necessary to ensure improved employee performance and achievement of the desired goals. The contingency theories are an expansion of the situational theories. They are based on categorizing various components which can be used to foretell of the best and effective management technique to be applied in a given situation (Hassan, 2009). The Fiedler contingency model proposes that for effective group performance the leaders approach must match with the situation, which gives leaders some control. Fiedler tried to kick in whether a person is task-oriented or rapport oriented using the LPC scores. He further identified three dimensions, which could be used to determine effective leadership (Robins, & Judge, 2010, p. 522). These include leader-member relations, which involves individuals levels of confidence, trust and respect individuals had in their leaders, task structure, which involves the structured and the unstructured degree of job assignments position power which measures the degree of influence a leader has in relation to

Estimation of the value of gravitational acceleration g based on Essay

Estimation of the value of gravitational acceleration g based on measurements from a simple pendulum - Essay ExampleAlthough the results obtained deviated slightly from the documented values, various sources of errors were discussed to account for the error noted. It was concluded that prior to accurate measurement of the quantities intricate and lessening of reaction time during measurement, a more accurate value for gravitational acceleration can be evaluatedDisplacement of a pendulum from its equilibrium position results in a restoring force that is due to gravitational pull that maintains it in a swinging mode. The combination of force of gravity and the mass of the pendulum causes it to oscillate constantly or so the equilibrium position (Homer & Bowen, 2014). The particular time required to make one complete oscillation is known as the period. Which can also be dogged using equation (1) below.Equation 2 above implies that plotting a graph of the squ atomic number 18 of peri odic time T against the aloofness l of the pendulum is a unfeigned line whose gradient is equal to. Using the gradient from the chart, the gravitational acceleration g can be evaluated. The measurement of error in physical quantities involved is important in determining the accuracy of the results obtained. The error is usually taken as the standard deviation of the measurements. Therefore the error in measurement of length can be determined by equation 3 belowPendulums find many applications in the world including the fact that their regular motion are used to regulate pendulum clocks (Homer & Bowen, 2014). Other applications are typical in seismometers, gravimeters, and accelerometers. As part of the hypothesis, the experiment seeks to determine the gravitational acceleration based on hypothesis that there is a relationship between the periodic time and length of the pendulum in determining the gravitational acceleration. In this research it is assumed that the bounteousness of d isplacement for each trial is the same. The classic setup, for studying

Financial Management Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1500 words - 3

In dictate to fulfil these objectives, in that location atomic number 18 concepts and conventions that have to be followed and adhered to. This essay describes ten accounting concepts citing practical examples for each concept. The essay allow distinguish between the concepts which are contained in IAS1 from those that are not contained in the IAS1. IAS1 accounting concepts Consistency The first concept of accounting is the consistency. The accounting records should be consistent. The financial statements of one financial division should be consistent with the financial statement of another financial year (Stickney, 2010). They should be easily comparable. There are instances where the methods used in the preparation of financial statement of a certain year are changed in the next financial year hence it becomes difficult to compare the two. This should only be do when the reason is very genuine and satisfactory. Otherwise, the methods should always be similar. A good real manner example of the consistency concept is that of a company that uses truthful line method in computing depreciation of assets. In all the succeeding years, straight line basis should be used in the computation. This will enable the comparison of depreciation in various financial years. Going Concern Under this concept, it is assumed that an entity should continue to operate for an indefinite period. Recording of assets in the financial statement should be on the basis of original costs rather than the market value (Stickney, 2010). In addition, the concept assumes that the assets will be utilizable in the business for an indefinite period of time. The idea is that there is no intention to sell the assets in the foreseeable future. In preparing the financial statement, the manageme nt is supposed to keep in mind that the business will be in operation for a long period of time and in case there are any plans that there are some assets which will be liquidated in the near future, disclosures should be made on the statements. A real life example of a going concern is where a business is being sold to another person. The business will be sold with all its operations, liabilities and assets as they were under the ownership of the previous owner. Nothing should be changed since under the going concern concept, the business is expected to continue as it is indefinitely. Accrual basis It is the urgency under IAS1 that the financial statements of a business entity should be prepared on the accounting accrual basis (Stickney, 2010). Only the cash flow is exempt from this requirement. This means that revenue is supposed to be recorded in the time it was earned. It does not matter when the money or the earnings will actually be received. In the case of expenses, they sh ould be recognized in the year they were incurred and the time they have actually been paid does not matter. For instance, if the business issues goods on credit in a certain financial year, this transaction should be recorded in the financial statement of that year even if the money is to be received in subsequent year(s). Materiality In a business, there are transactions which have the ability to affect the decision making of the management (Stickney, 2010). Such transactions

Question - Essay ExampleOr symbolically, that we may be consumed by our problems and challenges because it is too much for us to handle. The words of deliverer here may be stern and rebuking but this gave assurance to the faithful that nothing willing happen to them even in the midst of the strongest storm if He is with them. The message of the story is that if we assimilate enough unwavering faith in delivery boy Christ, our personal storms or problems will take care of its own. And that we should not nonplus of drowning just like the disciples did because if we have faith in Jesus, no harm would come to us even if the strongest storm will come upon us. Or in short, we should not be afraid of any challenges that life may confront us if we have in Jesus.3. In Matthew 818-22, Jesus revealed the cost of discipleship when the fight gathered around him and a teacher of the law manifested his willingness to become His disciple and follow wherever he may go. And Jesus told, Jesus repli ed,Foxes have dens and birds have nests, but the Son of Manhas no place to lay his head (Matthews 818-20). Jesus answer was allegory of how demanding the work of a disciple is. It means that they will not have rest for they will live the life of the disciple. Then another disciple ask Jesus to first let him go to go down his father before following him as disciple. Jesus reply here is stern statement and to the modern day reader, this may sound insensitive for Jesus Christ because he will not entertain any sentimentalities from his disciples saying Follow me,and let the dead bury their own dead. This only manifests the demands to become a disciple of Jesus Christ that one must have an unwavering faith and dedication that things will take care of their own when they follow Jesus. This is back up by the following verses in Matthews when a storm was upon them and the disciples panicked and woke up the sleeping Jesus to save them from

Guilt and Punishment Essay Example for Free

Guilt and Punishment EssayCreons actions and judgment in the play Antigone were questionable, but I dont venture he deserve the punishment he received at the conclusion of the play. My philosophy of life probably influenced my decision because I believe that everyone deserves a second chance. Creon was arrogant and did not listen to anyones advice, including Tiresias, a prophet who has never told him a lie. However, in the end he realized what had happened and accepted his fate. Creon was just recently appointed mightiness so I guess he was trying to set a good example by sentencing Antigone to death. He didnt want the people to think he was a person who made exceptions to their own ruling. A part of me did not want to forgive Creon, because what he did was rotten. He turned against his own family. I could never send a family member to jail or even worse, death. Creons punishment was quite harsh. All of the people close to him died. His son and young woman died and that was w hen he realized what kind of mistake he had made. He went against the morals of the people, ignored advice from his family members as well as a prophet who has never been wrong. His pertinacious decision led him towards his downfall. In the end Creon knew that it was his fault that every one around him died. It was too late to regret now, so he accepted his punishment. I dont think that the punishment was suitable because it was too extreme. Image if everyone in your family died because you made a poor decision. No one is perfect, that is why they vomit erasers on top of your pencils. I believe everyone should deserve a second chance, even if that someone is Creon.
